ARLGINTON, Texas- The UT Arlington men's tennis will take on cross-town rival Texas Christian University Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Fort Worth at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Mavericks feature nine players on the roster with seniors Yauheni Yakauleu and Soren Goritzka taking the lead. Yakauleu has been named team captain and is expected to step up into the leadership role for UTA.
"I have seen Yauheni develop as a player and a leader," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "He is ready for this role."
TCU has already begun its season and is 1-1 on the court. The Horned Frogs are ranked 67th nationally and featuring three undefeated singles players of the season.
This will be the 21 meeting between the Mavericks and the Horned Frogs with TCU leading the series 19-1, dating back to 1964. Last season TCU defeated the Mavs 5-2 in Arlington.
