ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington opens the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Women's Tournament Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. CT against New Mexico State at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

"We've got somebody familiar since we just played that team on Saturday," UT Arlington interim coach Karen Blair said. "I expect it to be a knockout, drag-out battle all the way to the end."

The ninth-seeded Mavericks finished the regular season with a 7-22 overall record and 4-14mark in league play. No. 8 New Mexico State is 14-15 and 7-11. The Mavericks and the Aggies split their matchups during the regular season. Each team took a win on the opponent's home court.

The winner of the WAC Tournament earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
