HENDERSON, Nevada - UT Arlington is tied after the first round of the Western Athletic Conference men's golf championships. The Mavericks shot a 6-over par 294 at the Rio Secco Golf Club.

UT Arlington is six shots back of co-leaders New Mexico State and Utah State. The second of three rounds is Tuesday.

Paul McConnell leads the five-man UT Arlington contingent with a 1-under 71 at the 7,313-yard, par-72 course. McConnell is tied for fourth, just one shot back of a trip tied atop the leaderboard. Hunter Brown (72) is tied for 12th.

Riley Fleming (75, T27), Brad Mason (76, T30) and Cash Wilkerson (76, T30) round out the UT squad.
