ARLINGTON, Texas - Members of UT Arlington men's basketball team participated in a community service event at Rush Creek Apartments on Friday. Men's basketball and softball also participated in the Sixth Annual ASP Softball Camp at the Harold Patterson Sports Complex on Saturday.

Lonnie McClanahan, Jorge Bilbao and Johnny Hill spent time playing games with the children and talking about life as student-athletes at Rush Creek. There were about 25 kids present at this event.

"The student-athletes played games like charades with the kids, stressed the importance of teamwork by playing a game that involved keeping multiple balloons up in the air without touching the ground and talked with the kids about being college student-athletes," said Kory Walker, a student development specialist. "At the end of the day, the student-athletes passed out candy bags to the kids."

Hill added: "Community service is about serving others. I can remember being a kid and individuals in my community took the initiative to give back to us. It's always important to give back, especially to the kids."
