LEXINGTON, Kentucky - No. 1 Kentucky lived up to its lofty billing by beating UT Arlington 92-44 Tuesday night at Rupp Arena.

The Mavericks (3-2) enjoyed a brief lead early before the undefeated Wildcats (6-0) seized control of the game. Kentucky is 2-0 all-time against UTA, having also beaten the Mavericks last season.

Junior guard Lonnie McClanahan was the only UTA player in double digits with 10 points, eight coming in the second half. Freshman forward Kevin Hervey had a team-high nine rebounds and junior guard Johnny Hill had three assists. The Wildcats had six with at least 10 points, led by Devin Booker's 19, as UK coach John Calipari substituted freely.

"We won't face another team like this, their size is absolutely unbelievable and you can't simulate it," UT Arlington coach Scott Cross said. "We could have guys standing on chairs and not even simulate it. They take up so much space and they close up gaps very impressively."

Hervey gave the Mavericks their only lead of the game with a 3-pointer in the opening minutes, putting the visitors up 3-2. UK responded with a 21-4 run before UTA guard Kaelon Wilson drilled a 3-pointer.

The Wildcats didn't let up, much to the delight of the 22,639 fans who packed the historic building. UK went into the break with a healthy 55-12 lead on 61-percent shooting, 27-15 edge in rebounding and 20-4 points-in-the-paint advantage.

"They picked us apart in that zone," Cross said. "It was impressive watching them play and seeing them go inside and outside. They played the game the right way, that's what is really impressive, to be able to get all of those NCAA All-Americans to play together as a team with 10 different guys, that is impressive. I don't know how Coach Cal gets those guys to do it, but it is really impressive to see what they do."

In addition to Hervey and Wilson, the other Mavericks to score in the first half were guard Drew Charles, forward Brandon Williams and McClanahan. UTA made 4 of 32 shots at the break, including 2-12 from beyond the arc.

The Mavericks found more success in the second half as the game evolved into more of a track meet. UTA scored 32 over the final 20 minutes, a 20-point improvement over the first half, while Kentucky had 37.

UT Arlington's road trip continues with Friday's visit to Montana State. The Mavericks are also at Texas on Dec. 2 before returning to College Park Center on Dec. 6 against Weber State.
