SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UT Arlington assistant coach Kristin Cole was recognized for a storied career at Santa Barbara High School on Friday as her No. 44 jersey was hung from the rafters of the J.R. Richards Gym.
"It was incredibly humbling to see my number up on the wall," Cole said. "I am in great company on the wall and it's such an honor. I have great memories of my time at Santa Barbara High and I am so thankful to have my jersey retired."
Cole was a four-time All-American and helped lead Santa Barbara to two national Top-5 rankings. She scored 1,762 points in her career to break the school record at the time, now sitting second. Cole still holds the all-time rebounding record, the single-season scoring and rebounding records, as well as the single-game rebounding record.
Cole became a member of the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame in 2011.
Upon graduating from SBHS, Cole attended Notre Dame and helped the Irish win three Midwestern Collegiate Conference championships.
