ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington men's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision Thursday afternoon to Nicholls State at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Mavericks have lost three consecutive matches, falling to 3-7 on the season and 4-2 on their home court.
"Today we just couldn't find a way to break through," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "Nicholls is a very tough opponent and we came up short. We will have to come out stronger tomorrow."
Nicholls State took the lead early, winning the doubles point to go ahead 1-0 going into singles competition.
Sophomore Marek Pesicka defeated his NSU opponent 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position, and freshman Mario Muniesa also won his match, 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot.
The Mavericks hope to bounce back Friday as they face in-state rival UTSA at 2 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
