ARLINGTON, Texas - Record-breaking scorer Reger Dowell has signed a professional contract with Tsmoki-Minsk in the Belarus Premier League. The club is based in Minsk, Belarus, and also competes in the VTB United League and the EuroChallenge.

Dowell led UT Arlington in scoring last season as a senior. The 2013-14 season was the only season for Dowell with the Mavericks, but the Oklahoma State transfer made it count. The Duncanville native led the Sun Belt in scoring at 20.3 points per game. Dowell is the first UTA player to lead the conference in scoring since All-American Marquez Haynes in 2010.

Dowell scored in double figures in 28 of 29 games and hit the 20-point mark on 15 occasions. He scored a career-high 37 points against WKU on March 1, tying for ninth all-time at UTA in a single game. The first-team All-Sun Belt and All-Tournament selection scored at least 20 points in the first seven games of his UTA career this season.

UT Arlington hasn't had a player average at least 20 points for a season since Haynes (22.6) in 2009-10. Dowell finished with the second-highest single-season point total (608) in UTA history.

"He'll go down as one of the top three or four scorers to ever play at UT Arlington," UT Arlington coach Scott Cross said. "As far as I've coached, Marquez Haynes and Anthony Vereen, he's right there with those guys. He can score the ball in a variety of ways and he's just one of those guys that can do a little bit of everything.

"He had an awesome year for us and we only had him one year. If we had had him from Day 1, who knows what could've happened."
