College Sports Madness All-Sun Belt Teams | UTA 2015 Schedule

ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington senior Nina Villanueva was named to the College Sports Madness Preseason Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference squad.

Villanueva, a senior from San Diego, Calif., earned her second consecutive selection to the College Sports Madness team and was the lone Maverick on the squad. Villanueva was fifth in the Sun Belt Conference last season with a .348 batting average.

Villanueva is entering her third year with the Mavericks after transferring from Cal State Monterey Bay after her freshman season. She was a first team All-Sun Belt selection at the end of the 2014 season and led the team with eight home runs.

As a sophomore, Villanueva was a first team All-Western Athletic Conference selection after hitting .328 in 43 games.

Villanueva is one of two seniors on the squad, joining Meagan Michele. The Mavericks open their 2015 campaign on Friday at the Tangi Tourism Classic against Alcorn State at 3:30 p.m. in Hammond, La.
