ARLINGTON, Texas -The UT Arlington men's and women's tennis team is back in action this weekend at the UTA Tennis Center. The women hostDallas Baptist and Seminole State beginning at 10 a.m. The men's team travels to Houston to play Rice on Friday and then make a quick turn around back to Arlington to take on Seminole State Saturday at 2 p.m.
The women are on a three-game winning streak, all of which have been sweeps. They hope to continue on this path this weekend as they take on two highly competitive tennis teams.
"This week we have been working on a lot of situational points to prepare for the doubleheader," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "I expect physical matches and I expect everyone to come out strong with intensity. If we do that I think it will be a fun Saturday."
Seminole State men's and women's tennis teams are both nationally ranked in the Junior/Community Colleges National Rankings. The men are currently ranked No. 5 and the women are ranked No. 7.
The Dallas Baptist Patriots are currently ranked No. 5 in the Division II Women South Central Region.
The men head down to Rice on Friday to take on the Owls at 12 p.m. at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. The Owls are currently 3-4 through the spring season and have lost the last three matches.
"The match against Rice is a really good opportunity against a really good team to climb up the rankings," Benitez said. "We've been practicing a lot of doubles play this week trying to continue to put the best pairs together to give us the best chances to win."
