ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington hosted the Ultimate Huddle Football Reunion as part of the Hall of Honor weekend festivities. The weekend's festivities included the induction of football alumni Mike Stamps into the Hall of Honor, a reunion and lunch at J. Gilligans and recognition at the basketball game against Troy.

Overall, 49 football alumni spanning four decades (1953-1985) attended the function. This is the second football reunion since UTA cancelled the program following the 1985 season. Gerry Mecca (Class of '82) was thrilled to be back saying, "I was really not expecting much, but boy am I glad I went. The old guard was there as were so many of my teammates from the '81 championship year. I can't wait until the next one. Movin' Mavs for life."

UT Arlington Athletics has committed to hosting the Ultimate Huddle Football Reunion every two years in conjunction with the Hall of Honor weekend. "Every reunion we have for our athletic alumni is important, as it provides an opportunity for us to honor our tradition, history, and the people who have laid the foundation for UTA Athletics," said Kris Wood, Assistant A.D. for Annual Giving and Athletic Alumni Relations. In addition to sport specific annual reunions, the Maverick Club hosts a reception during Homecoming Weekend that is open to all Arlington State College and UT Arlington Athletic Alumni.

The Ultimate Huddle Football Reunion was hosted by the Maverick Club. The Maverick Club serves as the primary booster organization for UTA Athletics and is committed to the student-athlete experience. Members of the Maverick Club support the athletic department through their annual donations, attendance at home sporting events, and general promotion of UTA Athletics.
