May 4, 2015 ARLINGTON, Texas -- The UT Arlington Golf program signed Gunner Cash from McLennan Community College to a national letter of intent.
Cash spent two years at McLennan in Waco and after graduating from Burleson Centennial High School. Cash was ranked as high as No. 3 individually as a sophomore, with McLennan being ranked in the top 10 throughout the fall and spring semesters.
Cash competed in 31 tournaments at Burleson Centennial, claiming eight championships and 20 top-10 finishes. He was a three-time team MVP, two-time first-team all-district selection, first-team all-region as a junior and second-team as a senior. Cash was honorable mention all-state as a junior. He graduated in the top 10 percent, was part of the Distinguished Academic Program and Summa Cum Laude.
"I am excited to become a contributing piece to the UTA golf program, and will strive to help in order to make it one of the best in the nation," Cash said. "The golf courses and resources provided, as well as the talented players with the same goals as me, will make this very attainable.
"With the location of UT Arlington being close to my hometown of Burleson, this made the choice very enticing. After going to meet with several advisors and counselors, the choice became apparent that academically the school was a great fit for my career goals and my degree plans. With the University being one of the largest in the state, and the location of UT Arlington being where there is an abundance of activities and opportunities to interact with many other students, this also made the choice very easy."
