SANDESTIN, Florida - UT Arlington is tied for eighth after Saturday's first two rounds of the Sun Belt Preview. The Mavericks shot a 13-over-par 581 at the Sandestin Raven Course.
UTA's second round was 13 strokes better than the first, with an even-par 284. The Mavericks were a plus-13 297 in the morning to check in ninth among 10 teams.
"First tournament day of the year spirits are still high despite a rough first 9 holes," UTA coach Stuart Deane said. "Team rebounded with even par for the afternoon, which was a good come back. Everyone just started nervous and tight, but that was somewhat expected with the first event. Looking forward to a quick start and a strong Mav finish."

Troy is on top of the team standings, jumping from fifth after the first round to first with a 270 in the afternoon. The Trojans are 11 under, good for a six-shot lead over Georgia Southern and Georgia State.
The third and final round is Sunday morning.
