ARLINGTON, Texas - With October serving as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, UT Arlington has teamed up with the Side-Out Foundation to raise money to help make a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families.

"Any time you get involved with a cause that's good for the world, human nature and all that, it's important to present that to your kids," UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour said. "This is something they get excited about and across the nation tons of volleyball players do this. A lot of our players have done this through their high school years as well. They look forward to doing this and raising as much money as they can and compete with each other to see who can raise the most money."

The partnership between the Mavericks and the Side-Out Foundation enters its eighth year with UTA having hosted a Dig Pink match since 2006. The program surpassed its 2014 goal of raising $3,000 when it brought in $5,191.22 in the month of October for the Side-Out Foundation.

This season the team again has the goal of raising $3,000 that will be donated to the Side-Out Foundation. The fundraising will be highlighted by an Oct. 15 match against Texas State that will serve as the Mavericks Dig Pink Match presented by Ben Hogan Sports Medicine. Fans who make a minimum donation of $20 at any UTA home volleyball match in October will receive a pink shirt.

The Side-Out Foundation was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and to have them work toward the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. Side-Out supports teams nationwide in their volleyball tournament, clinics and other fundraising efforts. They contribute the funds to organizations that serve breast cancer patients, whether it be in the form of research, medical services or patient support.

Fans can donate to the Side-Out Foundation by visiting their website at www.Side-Out.org.
