FORT WORTH - The UT Arlington men's tennis team wrapped up the fall slate at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional hosted by TCU.
The Mavericks sent several athletes into the second round but saw their trip in the main draws end there. However, UTA did bounce back with good performances in the consolation rounds.
"It was a tough weekend for us in Fort Worth but we played well," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "We have a lot to look forward to and to work in practice as we end the year and then we get ready to defend our title in the spring when we get to team competition."
Jhonathan Gonzalez reached the semifinals of the consolation bracket with wins over SMU, Texas A&M and Abilene Christian before being knocked out by a student-athlete from Texas Tech.
Daniel Armengol and Mauricio Del Rio were the lone Mavs to have success in the main draws, winning their opening match to reach the Round of 16. However, they were defeated by the fifth seed from Texas.
More information about UTA's spring slate, including all home dates, will be available later in the year.
