Postgame Quotes

UTA Head Coach Scott Cross
"Today was a little bittersweet. We won the game. At times we played unbelievable. But, it was disappointing to get outrebounded. Especially when we were doing such a good job defensively on the boards. We were just so careless with the basketball, which is giving teams extra possessions and shots. It will be hard to be successful over the long term if we continue to do that. We emphasize those things every day. We made some strides the last two games. Luckily, we played great offensively. We hit some shots and scored some baskets. Because of that, we were able to come out with a win.

"North Texas has a talented team and I felt that, at times, they played harder than we did. They won the rebounds. They won the steal battle. I think they beat us in getting to the free throw line. Some of those hustle stats, they won. We need to correct those things to get better. I'm obviously happy our guys pulled out a victory, even without doing those things.

"We will watch the film tonight and tomorrow and show the guys the areas in which we need to improve. We want to play with confidence and shoot shots. But, we don't want to be careless or take bad shot. We need to play a little smarter."

UTA Junior Forward Kevin Hervey
"I am continuing to get a lot more confidence as the season goes on. I am just trying to play through and for my teammates. They take a lot of pressure off me. North Texas plays hard. We kind of let our foot off the gas a little and, since they are so talented, they came back. Once we finally got aggressive, stayed tough and stayed with it, we finally put them away."
