ARLINGTON, Texas -- UTA junior centerfielder Phillipe Berthiaume has been named to the second-team All-Canadian College Team, it was announced by Baseball Hall of Famer Bob Elliott, of the Canadian Baseball Network.
A native of Quebec City, Quebec, Berthiaume is in his first season at UTA, after having a strong season at Seminole State College (Fla.). As a sophomore, Berthiaume hit .385 with 15 doubles, one triple and 10 homers, driving in 43 runs, with a 1.076 OPS. As a freshman in 2015, he finished with a .360 average with 12 doubles, four triples and six homers. He was named the conference tournament MVP in 2015.
UTA will open its 2017 baseball season on Feb. 17 vs. Southeast Missouri in Nacogdoches, Texas, at the campus of Stephen F. Austin.
