Quotable
UTA coach Scott Cross:
"What a big shot by Jalen. [Nathan Hawkins] really stepped up when [Erick Neal] fouled out. He ran the team extremely well. Our guys work hard playing defense and it was nice that we were able to get stops down the stretch. [Nick Pallas] did a tremendous job off the bench defending Shawn Long. That guy is legit. You can see why he's getting NBA looks. I'm so thankful for this win. It's a huge win."
Cross on message to team at halftime:
"We told the guys to just trust each. It felt like maybe in the first half we weren't trusting each other. We weren't playing physically tough enough. We got dominated inside a little bit. Jalen was a grown man on both ends of the floor. I felt like Shawn Long dominated us. We gave up about seven and-1s. We just told our guys to stick to the game plan and keep doing what we've worked on, what's been successful for us and they got to it in the second half. Jalen was really, really big for us. We ran offense through him and he was extremely effective."
Jalen Jones on final shot:
"I'm just so happy I made it. I just tried to keep my composure and I heard my teammates on the side saying knock it down. They had faith in me and it gave me the confidence to knock it down."
Jones on UTA's defense:
"We just started getting tuned in as far as defense. Trying to contain our man, the scouting reporting, trying to do what coach tells us to do."
