WEST POINT, Miss. - Andrew Sirowy finished in a tie for 28th and UT Arlington tied for 15th on the final day of the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship Tuesday.
Sirowy shot a 5-over-par 77 in the third round for a total of 224. The Mavericks closed out the tournament with a 23-over 311 on Tuesday for an overall score of 913.
"Spirits were high going into the event this week, but unfortunately we ran into some food poisoning issues with the team that prevented us from competing at 100 percent," UT Arlington coach Stuart Deane said.
"Over the next couple days we will work on getting the team back to full strength so we're ready to go at Texas State."
Jake Greenspoon followed close behind Sirowy and tied for 41st (226) on a plus-5 third round. Tanner Gore shot a 234 to tie for 67th. Josh Radcliff improved each round (81-97-75) and fired a 3-over in the final round in route of a tie for 69th. Aaron Guanlao withdrew on Monday.
McNeese State led the field at the conclusion of round two and continued momentum into the second day to win the championship with a plus-2 886.
Up next, UTA travels to Bastrop, Texas for the Jim West Intercollegiate on April 11-12. The Mavericks will use those final rounds to prepare for the Sun Belt Conference Championships beginning April 24 in Destin, Fla.
