Postgame Notes
- UTA improved to 16-5 on the season and 6-2 in the Sun Belt. The Mavericks remain on the road Monday for a 6 p.m. (CST) Sun Belt Conference game at Coastal Carolina.
- Appalachian State dropped to 6-13 on the season and 1-7 in the Sun Belt. The Mountaineers host Texas State Monday at 6 p.m. (CST).
- Appalachian State's starting lineup consisted of forwards Griffin Kinney and Tyrell Johnson and guards Ronshad Shabazz, Emarius Logan and Jake Babic.
- UTA moved to 6-1 all-time against Appalachian State, 2-1 in Boone.
- Freshman D.J. Bryant earned his second start of the season at Appalachian State.
- UTA trailed 32-24 at halftime at Appalachian State, the second-largest deficit of the season and only the fourth time this year the Mavs found themselves behind at the half.
- UTA's 24 first half points is the lowest total in the first 20 minutes of a game this season. And, the lowest since scoring just 22 first half points in a 64-61 home loss to ULM last season (2/20/16).
- Senior forward Jorge Bilbao registered 11 rebounds at Appalachian State, giving him 555 in his career. He surpassed Johnny McDowell (551 in 57 games from 1991-93) for 15th on UTA's career rebounding list.
- Bilbao's 11 rebounds at Appalachian State also marks his third double-figure performance in the team's last four games. During the last four games, he is averaging 11.8 per game.
- Junior forward Kevin Hervey scored 22 points to go with 13 rebounds at Appalachian State. The Arlington native posted his seventh double-double of the season and the 15th of his career. It was his first double-double since the home win over Appalachian State on Jan 2 (21 pts, 12 rebs).
- Hervey scored 22 points in today's game at Appalachian State. He has scored in double-figures in 14-straight appearances (He missed the Troy game) and 17 times this season. He surpassed 20 points for the sixth time this season and the fifth time in his last six appearances.
- UTA moved to 15-0 when outrebounding its opponent this season. The Mavericks are also 15-0 when shooting a higher field goal percentage than its opponent.
