Postgame Quotes

UTA Head Coach Scott Cross
"You have to give Appalachian State a ton of credit. You could tell they scouted us very, very well. They were prepared for everything we ran. It seemed that every player set that we ran or when we would make a switch, they would deny a pass. They kept us out of our rhythm. They were very good with their ball screen coverage in the first half. In the second half, we were able to get a few stops and play in transition. When we do that, we are a lot better. We were also able to get our four man to set a few ball screens. That helped our guards get going. The bottom line is that we stepped up and made plays.

"Kevin Hervey got going. Erick Neal was able to make plays for us. He did a great job of running the basketball team Kaelon (Wilson) was aggressive. It comes down to defense and rebounding. That's the bottom line.

(On Hervey's injury) "He said he just rolled his ankle. I think he'll be fine."

UTA Forward Kevin Hervey
"As a team, we are connected. We are playing through each other and for each other. That's the most important part. When you play through your teammates, everything opens up. With they have two guys on me, one of my teammates is open. They have to guard all five of us. They make the game easier for me.

(When the team was down 15 in the 1st half) "We just needed to keep chipping away at their lead. We didn't panic. We've been there before. Not too many times, fortunately, but we've been there. We just needed to stay the course.

(When he went down with :48 seconds left) "I'm fine. I just rolled my ankle."
