ARLINGTON, Texas - The UTA men's basketball team hosts defending Sun Belt Conference champion Little Rock Monday night in an important contest that could figure prominently in the Mavericks' title chances.
Scheduled for an 8 p.m. tipoff in state-of-the-art College Park Center, a UTA victory will allow the Mavericks to keep pace with the leaders in the Sun Belt standings. UTA sits just one-half game behind three that are tied for first place.
Tickets are available online at UTATickets.com or by calling the UTA Box Office at (817) 272-9595 during weekday business hours. Specially priced group and youth team ticket packages are available.
Monday's game will be televised by American Sports Network and streamed live on ESPN3. In addition, a live radio broadcast of the men's game will be available throughout the DFW Metroplex on KEXB 620 AM and via the popular TuneIn app on smartphones and tablets. Links to complete game coverage, including video, audio and live statistics, are available on UTAMavs.com.
UTA enters its contest against Little Rock with an 18-6 overall record and an 8-3 mark in league play. In addition to last night's 81-75 win over Arkansas State, the Mavericks benefited from losses by Georgia State and Georgia Southern to earn a tie for first place in the league in the loss column.
Arkansas State, Georgia Southern and Georgia State each own identical 9-3 records in league play. The Mavericks travel to Georgia next weekend to face two of those programs in what will likely play a major factor in determining the league's regular season champion with two weeks left in the league schedule.
Little Rock enjoyed the finest season in program history last year, rolling to a 30-5 record, a 17-3 mark in league play and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Trojans, however, lost three starters, five letter winners and its head coach from last year's side and bring a 13-12 mark into Monday's game at UTA.
Little Rock opened the season with a 9-4 non-league record that included notable wins against St. Bonaventure, Central Michigan and Tulsa. The Trojans dropped road games at Oral Roberts and Florida before rebounding with an overtime home win over ULM to open league play.
