Postgame Notes

  • UTA improved to 21-6 on the season and 11-3 in the Sun Belt and remain in first place in the league standings. The Mavericks return to action Saturday (Feb. 25) with a home game against South Alabama in College Park Center (4:30 p.m., ESPN3).
  • Georgia Southern fell to 17-11 on the season and 10-5 in the Sun Belt. The Eagles return to action Saturday at Arkansas State (7 p.m., ESPN3).
  • Georgia Southern's starting lineup consisted of forwards B.J. Gladden and Coye Simmons and guards Tookie Brown, Mike Hughes and Ike Smith.
  • Junior forward Kevin Hervey scored 28 points in today's game at Georgia Southern. He has scored in double-figures in 20-straight appearances (He missed the Troy game) and 23 times this season.
  • Hervey connected on five of his six 3-point attempts in the game. He equaled his career-high and set a season best for made 3-pointers in a game. He connected on five 3-pointers at Troy on Jan. 16, 2016.
  • Hervey's 28 points and 13 rebounds gives him 11 double-doubles this season and 19 in his career at UTA.
  • Hervey's 28 points set a new career high. His previous best was 27 points at Rice in 2015-16. His previous season high was 25 points at Texas State.
  • Hervey registered 13 rebounds at Georgia Southern. The Arlington native now has 556 in his career. He passed Albert Culton (544, 1980-82) and Johnny McDowell (551, 1991-93) to move into 16th on the UTA record book for career rebounds.
  • Senior guard Drew Charles connected on 2 3-pointers at Georgia Southern. The Azle native's moved into 8th on the UTA list for career 3-pointers with 156. He passed Rodrick Epps, who had 144 from 2004-08.
  • UTA's win at Georgia Southern gave the Mavericks 21 wins on the season, the 3rd highest total in program history. UTA won 24 games in 2012 & 2016.
  • UTA outrebounded Georgia Southern by 19 (42-23), the scond-largest rebound margin in a single game this season.
