Postgame Notes
- UTA improved to 22-6 on the season and 12-3 in the Sun Belt. The Mavericks return to action Monday (Feb. 27) in their final home game of the regular season against Troy (7 p.m., Spectrum Sports Texas).
- South Alabama fell to 13-15 on the season and 6-9 in the Sun Belt. The Jaguars return to action Monday at Texas State (7 p.m.).
- South Alabama's starting lineup consisted of forwards Josh Ajayi, Trhae Mitchell and Don MuepoKelly and guards Dederick Lee and Shaq Calhoun.
- UTA's win against South Alabama gave the Mavericks 22 wins on the season, the 3rd highest total in program history. UTA won 24 games in 2012 & 2016.
- The victory over South Alabama extended UTA's home win streak to 15-straight games, dating back to Feb. 20, 2016 against ULM. UTA is 12-0 at home this season.
- Senior forward Jorge Bilbao moved into 9th on the UTA list for career appearances with 119. He is one game shy of 6th and would move into a tie for fourth if he plays each of the remaining 3 regular-season games of the season.
- Bilbao moved into 10th on UTA's list for career rebounds. He surpassed Brian Myers (596, 1992-96) and now has 601 in his four seasons.
- Junior forward Kevin Hervey registered 13 rebounds against South Alabama. The Arlington native now has 569 during his UTA career and surpassed Donny Beachum (560, 2000-04) and tied Roy Johnson for 13th on the Mavericks' career list.
- Hervey scored 16 points in today's game at Georgia Southern. He has scored in double-figures in 21-straight appearances (He missed the Troy game) and 24 times this season.
- Hervey's 16 points and 13 rebounds gives him 12 double-doubles this season and 20 in his career at UTA.
- Junior guard Erick Neal scored 16 points against South Alabama, giving him 910 career points. He surpassed the 900 career points plateau and joins Kevin Hervey (972) at less than 100 points away from joining the 21-member 1,000-point club at UTA .
- UTA set a season-high with 8 blocked shots against South Alabama. Bilbao tied his career-high with 3 blocks. Six different players registered at least one block.
- South Alabama's five turnovers were the fewest for a UTA opponent this season. The previous low was 7 by Texas Southern in the season opener. The Jaguars attempted 73 shots in the game, equaling the most for a Maverick opponent this season.
