KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Postseason honors keep rolling in for UTA men's basketball juniors Kevin Hervey and Erick Neal.
Hervey became the first player in program history to earn first team All-District honors by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, while Neal is the first Maverick to receive second team recognition in consecutive seasons.
The duo have been key figures in UTA's record-setting season that saw the Mavericks claim the regular season Sun Belt Conference championship and advance to the National Invitation Tournament. UTA hosts CSU Bakersfield tonight at 8 p.m. (CDT) in the tournament quarterfinals.
Hervey, a native of Arlington, received Sun Belt Player of the Year honors and was an all-district selection by the United States Basketball Writers of America. He averages 17.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game and is among the top career scorers and rebounders in program history.
Neal, a Dallas native, ranks among the top 10 in the nation in average assists with 6.6 per game and has emerged as one of the most electrifying point guards in the country. He owns the program record for most double-figure assist performances and has moved into the top 10 in career 3-point shooting.
