Postgame Quotes
UTA Head Coach Scott Cross
"I think tonight's loss will cause our guys to be a little bit on edge, which I think you need to be. When you win several games in a row, you can get a little too comfortable. That is probably what happened tonight. It was their senior night. They played like we did on Senior Night. They were the tougher team. They played a little harder than we did. We lost a close game on the road. It may end up helping us in the conference tournament.
"Kevin (Hervey) was incredible tonight. He hit tough shot after tough shot. He was in the zone and feeling it. We tried to get him the ball as much as possible. Probably should have gotten it to him a little more. He was feeling it. He had one of those pretty special games.
"There is nobody in this league that we can point at and say that's who we want to play (in the Sun Belt Tournament). Whoever it is, we will prepare for them. Hopefully, our guys will be ready. I think you will see our best UTA basketball team on Friday. We have some time to rest, since we have a (first round) bye. We will probably take an extra day off to make sure they feel good and rest so they can play three games in three days. We do have a deep bench, which I think helps us. I think our guys will be ready to roll."
UTA junior forward Kevin Hervey
"Seven threes is a lot. I don't think I have ever hit that many in a game during my career. But, that isn't important right now. This was a tough loss."
On his last 3-pointer that bounced off the rim and in.
"It was pretty much luck. I just gave it a chance. That's all you can really do is throw it up there and hope it goes in."
"On playing 3 games in 3 days in New Orleans
"We will just need to stick to our roots. We try to play harder than our opponent and when we do that we have chances to win games in the tournament. We've gone through boot camp. Three games in three days should be nothing for us."
