COLLEGE STATION, Texas - UTA women's tennis is back on the road this weekend for the ITA Texas Regional Championships as a strong weekend would give the individual winners a shot to compete in the ITA National Fall Championships in Surpise, AZ. in November.Â
"This is the tournament that we have been working for during all of this fall season and we are looking forward to seeing where we are at with some of the best in the region," UTA coach Diego Benitez said. "The team has had some good weekends during our tournament season, so we will see how we can put into practice what we have been working on during the match."
Action gets underway on Thursday morning with singles and doubles launching from the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center on the campus of Texas A&M.Â
Leading the way so far in 2018 for the Mavericks is sophomore Almudena Boza with a 7-2 record. Sophomore's Momoka Horiguchi, Lucia Natal, and Carla Pons are also off to nice starts to the 2018 season with 5-2, 4-1, and 6-3 records respectively. Play begins Thursday and will conclude on Monday.Â
