Volleyball Falls At Georgia State In Weekend Opener

ATLANTA, Ga. - The UT Arlington volleyball team fell to Sun Belt Conference foe Georgia State, 3-1 on Friday night. Brooke Townsend led the team with 12 kills, while Madison St. Germain registered a match-high 19 digs and Alex Janak recorded her ninth double-double of the season (19 assists,12 digs) in the setback.

With the result, the Mavericks are now 9-7 overall and 3-3 in Sun Belt action, while the Panthers improve to 5-9 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.

After dropping the first set (25-18), the Mavericks bounced back and took the second game 25-22. Georgia State used big runs to get ahead early in sets three and four and were able to hold off the UTA comeback efforts, en route to the 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22) win.

UTA returns to the court on Sunday morning for a SBC matchup at Georgia Southern. First serve in Statesboro, Ga. is set for 11:30 a.m. CT.
