ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 5 UTA volleyball team swept No. 8 seed Troy (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) in the first round of the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Championships on Thursday night (Nov. 15) on the campus of Georgia State. The Mavs improve to 16-11 on the year and advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 4 Little Rock on Nov. 16 (6:30 p.m. CT).
Brooke Townsend led the Mavs with 12 kills. She also recorded a block and hit .333 in the match.
Madison Hill finished with 11 kills, three digs and a match-high four blocks, while
Zhanelle Geathers registered 10 kills and a pair of blocks.
Alex Janak recorded 19 assists, three service aces and a dig, while
Madelyn St. Germain tallied 13 digs on the night.
