Volleyball Falls To Texas State On Senior Day

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UTA volleyball team closed out its 2018 regular season schedule with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-13) loss to Texas State on Friday night (Nov. 9) at College Park Center.

It was also Senior Day as student manager Courtney Wheeler, Zhanelle Geathers, Madison Helt, Alex Janak and Libbie Vickers were honored following the match.

With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 15-11 overall and 9-7 in Sun Belt action, while the Bobcats improve to 24-6 on the season and 15-1 in league play.

Brooke Townsend and Madison Hill led the Mavs with eight kills each. Geathers finished with six kills and a block, while Janak recorded 13 assists, three digs and three kills. Kylee Kapp tallied 14 assists and four digs and Kylie Jedlicka added 15 digs and five kills on the night.

The Mavs now await their opponent for the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament (Nov. 15-18). UTA's seeding, which could be No. 4, No. 5 or No. 6, and opponent will be determined after Saturday and Sunday's Sun Belt matches.

THE SUN BELT CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
•    The 2018 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship will be hosted by Georgia State at the GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta, Ga. from Nov. 15-18.
•    The top four teams from each division (8 total) will qualify for postseason play. The East and West division champions will earn the top two seeds and receive byes through to the semifinals on Nov. 17.
•    The next two best records (regardless of division) will earn the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds and will receive byes into the quarterfinals on Nov. 16.
•    The final four teams will be seeded regardless of division and will compete in the first round on Nov. 15.
•    The championship match will be held at noon Nov. 18.
•    All matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
