Alex Ware named Assistant AD for Maverick Club

Ware joins UTA from UT Chattanooga

ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington Director of Athletics Jim Baker announced the addition of Alex Ware to the staff as the program's Assistant AD for Maverick Club on Friday. Ware begins at UTA on Aug. 13. 

Ware joins the department as the program's former director, Kris Wood, assumes a new role with Institutional Advancement with the University of Texas at Arlington. 

"We are excited to have Alex join our team," UT Arlington Director of Athletics Jim Baker said. "He brings great knowledge to our department and will serve the membership of the Maverick Club well. We look forward to expanding our reach, as well as our membership, to new heights under his leadership."

Ware joins the Mavericks from UT Chattanooga, where he served for three years as the Associate Director of Development of the Mocs Club. Under his guidance, the Mocs Club set all-time records for annual funding during the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years, including a 15% increase in the 2016 year.

"UTA has a storied athletics history and reached new heights over the last few years academically, athletically and in the community under Jim's leadership. I look forward to building on the hard work that has led to that success in striving to provide the best possible experience for all of UTA's student-athletes."

Prior to UT Chattanooga, Ware served as the Assistant Director of Development of the Blazer Boosters at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. at UAB, he led all donor relations and stewardship efforts on behalf of the Blazer Boosters, coordinated the annual fund renewal process and managed Athletics Gift-In-Kind Program and developed the UAB Courtesy Car Program. 

Ware got his start with a fellow Sun Belt program, spending the 2014-15 season with the University of Louisiana at Monroe, working in the Athletics office as an External Operations Assistant. 

He graduated in 2013 with his Masters in Sports Management and Policy from Georgia, earning his undergrad in Banking and Finance in 2010, also from Georgia.
