ARLINGTON, Texas - Roy Rudewick, UT Arlington Athletics' Associate AD for Sports Medicine, was honored on Friday by the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association to lead SWATA as the organization's President.
The announcement comes at SWATA's 64th annual Clinical Symposium hosted at the Arlington Convention Center in the program's three-day convention.
"It is a tremendous honor to be granted the opportunity by the membership to payback a profession that has given me so much," Rudewick said. "I am rich in relationships. I hope to provide guidance and leadership that will continue SWATA's growth over the two-year term."
Rudewick has served as the Vice President of the Executive Board helping maintain the group's association that consists of athletic trainers across both Texas and Arkansas.
A graduate of UT Arlington in 1989, he has overseen UTA's stand-out efforts as the program's director of sports medicine. He has served as the President of the North Texas Athletic Trainer Society from 2002-04 and has been an instructor for the National Athletic Trainers' Association B.O.C. His work includes time at Carrollton R.L. Turner High School and as a trainer for the World Cup in 1994 and an athletic trainer for the Houston Oilers in 1989-90.
