ARLINGTON, Texas -- UTA volleyball coach
J.T. Wenger has announced the addition of four undergraduate student assistants for the 2018 season, including two former Maverick setters.
"We are thrilled about the student managers we have on staff for 2018," UTA Coach
J.T. Wenger said. "Our managers play such a vital role in the development of our program and we are honored to have this group for the fall. They all bring different personalities, diverse experiences and energy to the gym on a daily basis. Our student-athletes and coaching staff are so grateful and appreciative of all of their hard work."
UTA will have four student managers for 2018, including Kailyn Gilbreath, Cooper Phillips, Claire Schwettmann and Courtney Wheeler.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas and a product of Boswell High School, Gilbreath will add great insights to the program from her previous playing experiences. Schwettman, also a savvy volleyball player from Arlington, Texas, served as a student-assistant coach in 2017. Schwettman, who also coaches at ACE Volleyball Club, will expand her role in 2018 to include statistical analysis.
In addition, Courtney Wheeler is in her third season on the UTA staff and will coordinate statistical analysis and other aspects of the program's managerial needs.
Wenger also welcomes Cooper Phillips to the staff for 2018 after Phillips served as a practice player with the Mavs in 2017. Phillips, a native of Grand Prairie, is the captain of the UTA men's club team and coaches with the ACE Volleyball Club. He graduated in May with kinesiology degree and is working on earning his master's in exercise physiology.
