ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington Director of Athletics
Jim Baker announced the addition of
Jon Felmet as the Mavericks' Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Game Operations on Wednesday.
Felmet joins the UTA program having served as the head boys basketball, boys golf and girls golf coach at Rains High School since 2013.
"We are excited to expand our leadership team with the addition of
Jon Felmet to a newly created position," Baker said. "He brings a wide range of experience to our department having facility and game management expertise, as well as a coaching background. Our goal is to operate more efficiently and effectively with respect to facilities and events, and Jon's leadership abilities will help us accomplish that."
At Rains High School, Felmet served as the coordinator of the school district's College Transition Program where he developed curriculum that included college admissions, registration ACT preparation and financial aid assistance. In Athletics, he was responsible for managing the hiring and training of coaches, helped lead the annual Thanksgiving Tip Off Tournament as well as coordinated facilities and staffing.
Prior to working with the Rains ISD, he was the head men's basketball coach for Richland College where he led the team to the NJCAA Division III National Championship in 2009. Felmet was responsible for the staffing and maintenance for the basketball facilities that included scheduling, staffing and coordinated the facility for community and educational events.
Felmet received his B.A. in Kinesiology in 2001 from St. Edwards in Austin and his M.S. in Health and Human Performance from Texas A&M Commerce in 2008.
