Box Score WACO – The UT Arlington men's tennis team commenced its spring season Friday night at #11 Baylor, dropping a 7-0 match to the Bears at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Baylor took a hard-fought doubles point to open the evening before the Bears swept UTA in straight sets in each of the six singles contests.
The Bears took #1 doubles, 6-0, but on court 2
Enrique Pardo and
Eduard Simo held a 5-3 advantage over Baylor and appeared destined to win their match before the #3 Baylor duo of Constantin Frantzen and Matias Soto out-dueled
Alejandro Hayen and
Miguel Cabrera, 7-5, to earn the point.
In singles action, the nationally-ranked Bears took the aforementioned six matches in straight sets, but freshman Cabrera battled at #5 singles, forcing Frantzen to a tiebreak in the second, and final set, before falling 7-6 (7-2).
