ARLINGTON – For the first time in program history, the UT Arlington men's basketball team will have a regular season home game broadcast on national television as the Mavericks' 2019-20 finale at the College Park Center against rival Texas State will be shown live on ESPN2.

To accommodate the move to ESPN2, the game will now take place on Friday, Feb. 28, at 8 p.m. It was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 29, at 5 p.m.

During UTA's run to the NIT quarterfinals in 2017, the Mavericks had a pair of those games at the CPC air nationally on ESPNU, but this will be the first time a regular-season game at the CPC will be broadcast to the country.

UTA's version of Friday Night Lights will take on even more significance as – in addition to airing on ESPN2 – the game will serve as Senior Night as it will be the final home regular-season contest of the year.

"This is not only a terrific opportunity for our program to be showcased on a national level, but it's a great opportunity to advertise our campus and the city of Arlington to the country," stated head coach
Chris Ogden. "We have the chance to show America just how special and unique UTA and Arlington are, and demonstrate the impact our students and community have on our team."

Last year, UTA swept Texas State and ruined the Bobcats chances of a Sun Belt Conference Regular Season Championship with a wire-to-wire victory in the season finale at the CPC which propelled the Mavs to the No. 2 seed in the SBC Tournament. In the matchup at San Marcos earlier in the year,
Brian Warren – who returns for his senior season in 2019-20 – hit two game-extending jumpers to silence a near-record crowd with a double-overtime win against a Bobcats' team which was receiving votes in the national polls.

UTA returns four of its top-five scorers and all five starters from last year's team which advanced to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship game for the second-straight year.

The 2019-20 season gets underway at the CPC with a local affair against UT Dallas on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m., before the Homecoming tilt with traditional mid-major force Tulsa on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.

The official tip-off event for the year occurs tonight, Oct. 17, with Mav Madness presented by Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar at the brand-new Brazos Park on campus from 7-9 p.m. The event is free to attend, and fans will be treated to live music, free food, giveaways and other terrific prizes all while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow Mavs as anticipation builds for the start of the men's and women's basketball seasons.
