ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington volleyball team dropped its third straight match, falling to Troy 3-1 (22-25, 25-13, 16-25, 23-25) at College Park Center on Saturday night.
The loss moves the Mavs to 11-10 overall and 3-6 in Sun Belt play, while the Trojans improve to 16-4 on the year and 6-2 in league play.
Madison Hill led UTA with 14 kills, five blocks and a .440 hitting percentage.
Brooke Townsend chipped in with 12 kills and nine digs, while
Petra Manderson added eight kills and 14 digs. The Maverick setters,
Jessica Stancliff and
Kylee Kapp, turned in 27 and 24 assists, respectively.
Madelyn St. Germain finished with a team-high 24 digs.
SET 1 | UTA 22, TROY 25 (TROY LEADS THE MATCH 1-0)
The set was played even to start. The Mavs grabbed a 17-13 lead after a service ace by Kapp. Trailing 21-19, Troy used a 6-1 run to complete the late comeback and take the opening set 25-22. The Trojans outhit UTA .298-.222 in the frame.
SET 2 | UTA 25, TROY 13 (MATCH TIED 1-1)
The Mavs controlled the set from start to finish, en route to the 25-13 win. A
Petra Manderson kill gave UTA a 10-4 lead and the Mavericks never looked back. UTA held the Trojans to a .000 hitting percentage, while they managed to hit .600 in the frame. Through the first two sets, Townsend led the way with 9 kills and a .900 hitting percentage.
SET 3 | UTA 16, TROY 25 (TROY LEADS THE MATCH 2-1)
The Trojans bounced back from the rough 2nd set and opened the third frame with an 11-4 run and forced UTA to burn an early timeout. A kill from Manderson pulled the Mavs within four points (15-11), but Troy scored 10 of the last 15 points of the set to pick up the 25-16 win.
SET 4 | UTA 23, TROY 25 (TROY WINS THE MATCH 3-1)
UTA opened the frame with a 6-2 run, capped by a setting error on the Trojans. Troy responded with a 7-3 run to tie things up at 9-9. The Mavs fought and grabbed a late 20-18 lead, but the Trojans used a 3-0 run to take a 21-20 lead and force UTA to call their second timeout of the set. Troy would go on to hold off UTA and take the set (25-23) and the match (3-1).

The Mavs will now hit the road for four straight SBC matches. UTA will face App State (Oct. 25), Coastal Carolina (Oct. 27), Louisiana (Nov. 1) and ULM (Nov. 3).
