ARLINGTON, Texas – Slow starts doomed the UT Arlington volleyball team Tuesday, as Mavs lost to Texas State 3-0 (14-25, 21-25, 10-25).
In the opening set, Texas State jumped out to a 10-4 lead. The Mavs (10-7, 2-3 SBC) went on a mini-run at the end of the set, but the Bobcats (12-7, 4-1 SBC) held off the Mavericks to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Trailing 19-12 in the second set, UTA went on a 9-4 run to cut the deficit to two points. A UTA attack error and a Texas State kill secured the hard-fought set victory (25-21) for the visitors.
The Bobcats got out to another quick start in the third set, jumping out to a 12-0 lead on their way to clinching the match.
Brooke Townsend led the Mavs with eight kills, while
Madison Hill added six kills.
Meredith Fisher finished with five kills and
Kylie Jedlicka chipped in with a pair of kills and 10 digs.
UP NEXT
The Mavs will look to get back in the win column Friday (Oct. 11) when they host Georgia Southern. The first serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m..
