Meet The @UTAMavsMBB 2019-20 Support Staff

ARLINGTON – With the start of the 2019-20 UT Arlington men's basketball season just a few days away, get to know more about the Mavericks' support staff.
 
The primary coaching core of head coach Chris Ogden, associate head coach Greg Young and assistant coaches Riley Davis and Royce Johnson remains intact from 2018-19, but the following members – some of whom were on staff in slightly different roles last season – complete a revamped support staff which will play a vital role in the team's success:
 
Director of Operations: Parker Eidson (Tennessee '16 / 2nd Year)

Eidson is in his first season in 2019-20 as the Director of Operations after spending the 2018-19 season with the Mavs as an Operations Graduate Assistant.
 
In his role, Eidson oversees all logistical aspects of the program's day-to-day operations, including budget, travel, meals, camps and equipment.
 
Eidson, 25, a native of Nashville, Tenn., previously served as a basketball operations graduate assistant under head coach Chris Beard at Texas Tech during the 2016-17 season. He coordinated operations for the Red Raider team that advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals. Eidson worked with day-to-day program scheduling, coordinated team travel, served as a liaison between the basketball program and the athletics administration and oversaw the procurement and distribution of team equipment.
 
Prior to his time at Tech, he served four seasons as a student assistant at the University of Tennessee. While at Tennessee, he worked under three head coaches: current Missouri head coach Cuonzo Martin, Donnie Tyndall and current coach of the Vols, Rick Barnes. He was also a part of the program's charge to the 2014 Sweet Sixteen.
 
While with the Volunteers, he assisted coaches and staff with recruiting, summer camps, team travel, supervision of the team managers, along with the skill development of numerous professional players, including: Philadelphia 76ers guard Josh Richardson, Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams, Washington Wizards forward Admiral Schofield, Jarnell Stokes, Jordan McRae and Kevin Punter.
 
Eidson earned a bachelor's of science degree in sport management with a minor in business from the University of Tennessee in 2016.
 
He will graduate from UTA with a MPA in December of 2019.

McGann joined the men's basketball staff as a Video Coordinator in August 2019 after serving as a Graduate Assistant during the 2018-19 season.
 
McGann serves an important role in scouting upcoming opponents, as well as preparing and evaluating practice and game footage to educate each player for improvement of their performances. He also oversees creative content regarding features, social media growth, promotional videos and marketing strategies within the team and staff.
 
McGann originally joined the staff in May 2018 as a graduate assistant after working three years at ESPN/DraftExpress as a content producer and video specialist directly under ESPN's Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz. McGann worked on the creation of advanced scouting videos for ESPN's social media pages, as well as graphics and NBA Draft Night production. He also produced, edited and served as a liaison for the international scouting website, DraftExpress.com for three years.
 
McGann earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Sports Media from Oklahoma State in 2017, where he received national awards from the Broadcast Educational Society and the National Broadcast Society for his productions.
 
A native of Euless, Texas, McGann graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School in 2013.
 
Dominick Walker Headshot NewDOMINICK WALKER
Walker joined the UTA strength and conditioning staff in the summer of 2018, overseeing men's basketball.
 
Before his arrival at UTA, Walker was an apprentice strength and conditioning coach for the Philadelphia 76ers, assistant strength and conditioning coach for the University of Louisiana Lafayette where he was responsible for men's basketball, women's basketball, and track and field. During the 2017-18 season, the Sixers achieved an overall record of 52-30, which placed them 3rd in the Eastern Conference and broke a 6-year playoff drought.  Prior to UL, he was the assistant director of basketball performance at Mississippi State University under renowned basketball strength and conditioning coach David Deets, and a sports performance intern at St. John's University.
 
Walker spent two seasons as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Angelo State University, where he worked with men's and women's basketball along with women's golf.  During his two-year stint, the Angelo State men's basketball team achieve an overall record of 47-15 and was the Division 2 south central runner up (Sweet 16) during the 2014-15 season.  He spent the summer of 2013 as an strength and conditioning intern with men's basketball at the University of Texas under another renowned basketball strength and conditioning coach, Todd Wright, who's now with the 76ers as the head of strength and conditioning; worked in strength and conditioning at McMurry University, strength and conditioning intern with men's basketball at Virginia Commonwealth University, and an athletic performance intern at Baylor University assisting with football, men's basketball, and women's basketball.
 
A team captain and two-year letterwinner on the basketball team at McMurry, Walker programmed and implemented the team's strength and conditioning program and helped the War Hawks to 39 wins. He earned All-American Southwest Conference honorable-mention honors after finishing as the team's second-leading rebounder in 2011-12.
 
Walker has worked with many professional basketball players, including Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and JJ Reddick.
 
Walker earned an associate degree in General Studies from Lon Morris College in 2011, a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (kinesiology, psychology, and business) from McMurry in 2013, and a Master of Education in Coaching, Sport, Recreation and Fitness Administration from Angelo State in 2015.
 
He is a certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a corrective exercise specialist (CES), the Gray Institute in Applied Functional Science (CAFS) and 3-Dimensional Movement Analysis and Performance Systems (3DMAPS), Functional Range Conditioning as a mobility specialist (FRCms), and Functional Range Assessment (FRA). He also holds First Aid and CPR/AED certifications from the Red Cross.

Marrs joined the UTA staff in 2018 and currently serves as the Athletic Trainer for men's basketball.
 
He is responsible for the preparation of the student-athletes' physical and mental health, as he aids in the pre-practice and post-practice maintenance of the men's basketball roster. He also oversees additional support staff to best anticipate and prevent injuries, while coordinating rehabilitation programs and serving as medical liaison for the men's basketball program.
 
Marrs joined the staff after spending the 2017-18 year working at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. His responsibilities were to evaluate injuries, coordinate corrective rehabilitation exercises, and daily treatment to all athletes within the track and field program. He also assisted with the tennis and basketball teams while at the academy. Marrs has experience working with Olympic track athletes Richard Thompson, Michel Torneus and tennis pro athlete Kei Nishikori.
 
Prior to IMG, Marrs served as a Graduate Assistant with the Texas Tech men's basketball team for the 2016-17 season, where he assisted with injuries and rehab, as well as any first-aid and hydration during practices and games. While attending Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Marrs completed a summer internship with the Oakland Raiders during training camp of 2016.
 
Marrs, originally from Sullivan, Ill., earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Illinois College in 2014. He was a student athletic trainer for all sports, as well as a member of the men's basketball and track teams. He went on to get his Master of Athletic Training degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2017.
 
Derrick ObasohanDERRICK OBASOHAN
Obasohan is in his first season with the men's basketball program in 2019-20 as a Graduate Assistant Player Development Coordinator.
 
A former UTA standout, professional player and Olympian, Obasohan scored 1,308 career points for the Mavericks from 2000-04 – which still ranks as the 7th-most in program history.
 
Obasohan begins his coaching career after playing 14 years professionally in France, Spain and Turkey.
 
A former Olympian, Obasohan was the starting shooting guard for Nigeria at the 2012 London Games. He averaged 10.6 points and 3.2 rebounds over five Olympic contests, including a personal high of 18 points in the final Group A Preliminary Round matchup against France.
 
He also represented Nigeria at the 2006 FIBA World Championship (now known as the Basketball World Cup) in Japan, and won a bronze medal at the 2011 FIBA Africa Championship.
 
In 2001, Obasohan became first men's basketball player in UTA history to be named the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year after averaging 8.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He also garnered Southland Conference honors as a junior and senior.
 
As a senior in 2003-04, Obasohan helped guide UTA to its first-ever conference championship as the Mavs won the Southland Regular Season Title with an 11-5 record.
 
Obasohan graduated from UTA with a degree in Communications Technology in 2004.

Winsberg joined the men's basketball staff in the summer of 2019 as a Graduate Assistant Analytics Coordinator.
 
Winsberg brings with him six years of experience in the basketball industry, having worked at the high school, college and professional level.
 
In 2018-19, Winsberg lived in Israel for 11 months. He was the video coordinator and head scout for the first division professional club Maccabi Ashdod, working under head coach Brad Greenberg.
 
Previous to that, he worked with the University of New Orleans as the assistant director of basketball operations, serving under head coach Mark Slessinger.
 
A New Orleans native, Winsberg was a former student manager for the men's basketball team at Louisiana State University; he graduated from LSU in 2017 with a Bachelor's in sports administration.
 
Prior to graduation, Winsberg was an assistant coach at both Christian Life High School in Baton Rouge and then at his alma mater Isidore Newman High school in New Orleans. He worked under coach Jimmy Tillette.

Clark is in his first year with the men's basketball program as a Graduate Assistant Operations Coordinator.
 
Clark joins the staff after spending the 2018-19 year as a Player Development Intern with the Dallas Mavericks. His responsibilities included assisting with player workouts, practices and pregame workouts. He also worked closely with player development staff on internal analytics database to measure assigned player's in-season shooting progress.
 
Prior to joining the Mavericks, Clark served as a Team Manager with the Weber State men's basketball program from 2013-18. At Weber State, he assisted with all areas of the program from operations, film and on-court duties. He also interned with the Director of Basketball Operations in the 2009-10 season. During his time at Weber State, the Wildcats advanced to the NCAA Tournament twice and were conference regular season champions three times.
 
Clark is a native of Bountiful, Utah. He earned a bachelor's degree from Weber State in Human Performance Management with an emphasis in Sports Recreation and a minor in Coaching.
 
Rachael HolmesRACHAEL HOLMES
Holmes joined UTA Athletics in August of 2018 as the administrative assistant for men's and women's basketball and volleyball.
 
As the assistant to three sports, Holmes is responsible for the sports' budget, assists with recruiting travel and is the face of the program for visitors to the Coaches Suite.
 
Holmes previously worked for the Dallas Cowboys at their Headquarters in Frisco, Texas, where she helped manage memberships and reception at the Cowboys Club. Holmes acted as a liaison between facilities as she toured the Club with new members, and created a homely winning environment for players, family and members.
 
She also was a history teacher and coach for Frisco ISD and Wylie ISD in Abilene, Texas, from 2014-18. While at Wylie ISD, Holmes was a teacher's aide for special education and assisted with 7th and 8th grade athletics. Once at Frisco ISD, she taught history and coached 8th grade athletics.
 
Holmes graduated from McMurry University in 2013 with a degree in Sociology and Psychology. Growing up, her father, Ron, was the head men's basketball coach and Athletic Director for 25+ teams at McMurry, so naturally she gravitated toward sports. As she grew up, Holmes played basketball and golf from a young age through high school as a native of Abilene, Texas.
