Four Lady Mavericks scored in double figures as the UTA women's basketball team overcame early turnover woes to pick up a 76-61 win over Louisiana on Tuesday night (Jan. 29) at the Cajundome.
The Lady Mavs, who committed four turnovers in the first five minutes of the game and finished with 16 total, shot 50.9 percent (29-of-57) from the floor, 40 percent (6-of-15) from long distance and knocked down 12-of-16 shots (75 percent) from the charity stripe, while the Ragin' Cajuns were forced into 20 turnovers and made just 18-of-47 (38.3 percent) shots from the field and 2-of-12 (16.7 percent) attempts from behind the arc.
Claire Chastain finished with a game-high 17 points in 24 minutes. The freshman shot 7-of-12 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line. She also added two boards and a pair of steals on the night.
Cierra Johnson nearly picked up her third double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Aysia Evans chipped in with 13 points off the bench, while
Terryn Milton registered 10 points and seven boards.

The Lady Mavs received one vote in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, marking the first time this season that UTA has appeared in any national poll.
UTA IN THE SUN BELT AND NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Lady Mavericks lead the Sun Belt in scoring margin (+14.6), field goal percentage (.469), three-point percentage (.394), assists (18.2), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2) and opponent rebounding average (34.2), while also ranking in the top three in the conference in five other categories, including scoring (3rd; 74.8), opponent scoring (2nd; 60.2) and steals (2nd; 10.1).
In the national rankings, UTA ranks No. 7 in three-point field goal percentage (.394) and rank in the Top-20 nationally in assists per game (11th), total assists (11th), assists-to-turnover ratio (21st) and field goal percentage (15th).

The Lady Mavs' 100 points in their 100-73 win at Arkansas State on Jan. 17, are the most points scored by a Sun Belt team in conference play so far this season.

• Despite the offensive woes, a pair of freshmen stood out for the Bobcats during the Georgia Southern contest. Both freshman guard Kennedy Taylor and freshman forward Da'Nasia Hood were inserted into the TXST starting lineup. Taylor responded with a career-day, scoring 19 points, grabbing five rebounds and adding five assists in 38 minutes of play. Hood led the offensive charge with 21 points and eight rebounds. Her scoring output was her highest single-game total in conference play and her second 20-point effort of the season.
• Senior guard Toshua Leavitt has scored 1,364 points in her storied career at Texas State. She ranks 10th on the all-time scoring list and trails former teammate Taeler Deer (1,386) for the ninth spot. She has made 326 career 3-point field goals to set the school and Sun Belt career record. Leavitt passed Sarah Wagner (196) for the Bobcat records and Leslie Logsdon (278) of Western Kentucky for possession of the league record. She is the only TXST player on the men's or women's side to make at least 200 triples as a Bobcat.
• With a career record at Texas State of 120-120, head coach Zenarae Antoine is fourth in program history in career victories. She trails Suzanne Fox (174), Judy Rinker (145) and Linda Sharp (138) on the all-time list.
