CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – UTA dropped a 9-3 decision on Saturday afternoon in game two of a four-game series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Chapman Field.
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 0-2 to start the season, while the Islanders improved to 2-0 on the year.
Conner Aube went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.
Andrew Miller finished 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while
Wyatt Divis had a multi-hit game with a double and
Dylan Paul went 1-for-4 with a double.
UTA got on the board first in the opening frame. After Aube doubled to left centerfield, he stole third base and scored when
Andrew Miller grounded out to the shortstop.
Corpus Christi quickly responded by plating five runs in the second inning and never looked back, en route to the 9-3 win. The Mavs scored runs in the third and eighth innings, but were unable to mount a comeback on the road.
The two squads will return to the field to square off two more times: Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m.
