Box Score PLANO - Weather in the area forced the match to be played inside, but the UT Arlington men's tennis team (5-3) wasn't phased as they shut out the Lamar Cardinals 7-0 at Lifetime Fitness in Plano to win their third straight match.

The Mavs were perfect in singles competition, with no player needing a tie-breaking set to earn their wins.  Enrique Pardo won the No. 1 singles competition 6-2, 6-4.

Following a tough 7-5 win in the first set, Guanarteme Nuez breezed pasted Nicolas Mayr 6-3 in the second to win in consecutive sets.  Maruricio Rio (6-2, 6-2), Miguel Carera (6-3, 7-5), Alejandro Hayen (6-4, 6-3) and Jakub Grzegorczyk (6-3, 6-4) all also won their matches in consecutive sets.

Nuez and Rio were defeated in the No. 1 doubles competition 6-4, but Pardo and Eduard Simo tied the doubles point with a 6-3 win over the Cardinals team of Nicolas Mayr and Carlos Paton Canal.  Hayen and Cabrera won the No. 3 doubles competition to give the Mavs the doubles point.

UTA will have more than a week off before getting back in action.  The Mavs will play their eighth straigh home match next weekend when they host Prairie View A&M at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2.
