ARLINGTON, Texas - UTA baseball couldn't stop the big bats of Georgia Southern on Sunday, as the Eagles went yard twice en route to a 15-8 victory over the Mavericks Sunday at Clay Gould Ballpark.

Georgia Southern got going early as Nolan Tressler hit a two-run home run to rightfield to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The Mavericks quickly took the lead back, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first. Zack Cook walked with the bases loaded to bring home
Connor Aube. The next batter,
Josh Minjarez slapped a single to third base to give UTA a 3-2 lead. Dillon Paul followed with a 2-run double to make it 5-2.

UTA would score again in the bottom of the fourth inning as
Will Olson scored on a wild-pitch, bringing the lead to 6-2.

Georgia Southern would retake the lead in the top of the fifth as they scored seven runs in the inning, including a 2-run double by Tressler and an RBI-double by Mason McWhorter, giving them a 9-6 lead.

In the seventh and eighth innings, the Eagles added five more runs, to go ahead 15-6.

Georgia Southern's Hayden Harris (1-0) got the win as he threw four innings of relief, giving up one earned-run on two hits and three walks, striking out three batters.

David Moffat (1-2) started the game for the Mavericks and gave up five runs on two hits and three walks while recording one strikeout.

The Mavericks look to bounce back Tuesday as they take on TCU at 7 p.m. at Globe Life Park.
