Box Score ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington baseball team couldn't capitalize on its opportunities against TCU, ultimately falling 5-3 in a designated home game at Globe Life Ballpark on Tuesday night.
UTA starter
Riley Bost lasted just three innings before he came out. In all, UTA (12-9) used six pitchers.
Bost got TCU (13-6) to strand a pair of runners in the first inning. UTA had no such issue in the second inning. Two batters after
Zac Cook got on base,
Dylan Paul drove him home with an RBI single.
The Horned Frogs answered with a run of their own in the top of the third inning before taking a 4-1 lead behind Conner Shepherd's three-run home run to right centerfield in the top of the fourth.
Cook got his team-leading 15th RBI of the season with a single up the middle. His hit got the Mavs back to within two runs (4-2).
Shepherd did more damage in the top of the sixth inning with a single to start the inning. He'd eventually score from third on a wild pitch.
Tristan Tom, who came on in relief with the bases loaded and one out in the inning, was able to limit the damage to a single run.
In his first collegiate game of his career,
Tyler Rice grounded into a fielder's choice to score
Connor Aube and cut TCU's lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Mavs will hit the road for a three-game series against Georgia State. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 5 p.m.
