Box Score ARLINGTON, Texas – Guanarteme Nuez picked up a win over the 11th-ranked player in the NCAA on Monday during the UT Arlington men's tennis team's 6-1 loss to No. 9 Columbia at the UTA Tennis Center.
In the No. 2 competition, Nuez picked up the win of the year for the Mavs. He took the first set 7-6 over No. 11 Jack Lin, but fell in set two 3-6. Nuez earned the win with a gutsy 10-8 set three win.

The doubles point came down to the wire.  After
Miguel Cabrera and
Alejandro Hayen fell 6-4 in the No. 3 competition, Nuez and
Mauricio Rio defeating William Matheson and Adam Ambrozy 7-6 in the No. 1 doubles spot.Â
Enrique Pardo and
Eduard Simo led 6-5 in the No. 2 competition, but ultimately fell 7-6 as the Lions took the doubles point.

Columbia took four of their points in singles competition in straight sets, but Rio and Nuez fought tooth and nail against their ranked opponents. Rio took the first set 7-5 over the No. 76 Adam Ambrozy, but fell in sets two and three 6-2, 10-8.
