DALLAS, Texas - Drew Gooch (1-2) picked up his first win of the season, tossing seven scoreless innings in UTA's 9-0 shutout of Dallas Baptist Tuesday at Horner Ballpark.

Gooch struck out four batters and gave up four hits and three walks in his winning performance.

On the other side of the ball, rightfielder, Andrew Miller finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. Designated-hitter, Anthony Dominguez added three RBIs and batted 2-for-4 with a double.

The Mavericks started scoring early as Dominguez drove in a run on a single to center field to give UTA a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Dominguez got things going for the Mavericks again in the top of the third inning as he drove in a run on a sacrifice-fly to center field. The next batter, second-baseman, Zac Cook drove in another run on a single to right field. Two batters later, first-baseman, Dylan Paul hit an RBI single to center field to bring the UTA lead to 4-0 in the top of the third.

Miller and Dominguez drove in another run each in the top of the eighth inning to give UTA nine runs on the night.

The Mavs return to the field Wednesday (March 27) when they host Abilene Christian. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
