Box Score MIAMI - Just two days after playing in Fort Worth, the UT Arlington men's tennis team was back in action, this time in Miami, Florida to take on the Georgetown Hoyas. The Mavericks showed a dominate display of tennis to beat the Hoyas 5-2 and push their win streak to five matches.
The Mavericks began the day winning the doubles competition point. Mauricio Rio and
Enrique Pardo won the No. 1 doubles point over Connor Lee and Luke Ross 6-3, while
Guanarteme Nuez and Miguel Carera defeated Andrew Rozanov and Will Sharton 6-2 in the No. 3 doubles competition.
Eduard Simo and
Alejandro Hayen were winning the No. 2 doubles 5-2 before the doubles point was decided.
Needing just three points to win the match, Pardo, Nuez and Hayen took care of business for the Mavs, winning their matches in consecutive sets. Pardo picked up his eighth straight win, 7-6, 6-4. Hayen and Nuez continued their streaks as well, winning their sixth and fifth consecutive matches, respectively.
Mauricio Rio picked up the fifth point for UTA, grinding out a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win over Michael Chen in the No. 3 singles competition. The only losses on the day came at the No. 4 and No. 6 singles spots where Andrew Rozanov defeated
Miguel Cabrera 6-3, 6-4 and Luke Ross defeated
Sansidh Kommaraju 6-2, 6-3.

The Mavericks will continue their busy week, playing one more match in Miami tomorrow against the third-ranked Division II Lynn Fighting Knights. Following the match against Lynn, UTA will return home to take on UTSA at the UTA Tennis Center on Saturday (March 9) at 11 a.m.
