BIG TIME IMPLICATIONS
The regular season finale has huge seeding implications for both teams ahead of the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Win a win, the Lady Mavs, who have already locked up a top 2 seed in the Sun Belt Championship, will secure at least a share of the Sun Belt Regular Season crown. If UTA wins, but Little Rock loses at ULM, then the Lady Mavs will have sole possession of the title.

With a Bobcat victory, TXST would move a step in the right direction in garnering a top-six seed and an automatic bye into the second round in New Orleans.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | TEXAS STATE
• The Bobcats have won five of the last six games in conference play, including a 77-45 pounding over South Alabama to open the March schedule. In the five victories, TXST has stifled the opposition and allowed 52.6 points per game. Only one team in the five victories topped 55 points, while two we held under 50 points.

• As her collegiate career moves closer to the end, Leavitt continues to ensure Bobcat fans do not soon forget her spot in TXST history. She ranks ninth on the all-time scoring list with 1,502 career points, trailing former Bobcat great Joyce Ekworomadu (1,573) for the eighth spot. Throughout her storied career, Leavitt has made at least five 3-point field goal attempts in 28 games. Texas State holds a record of 22-6 in those games. Leavitt is leading the team with 16.5 points per game this season.

• Freshman center Jaeda Reed played her best game as a Bobcat against South Alabama, scoring a career-high 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting and pulling down eight rebounds. Junior forward Jazza Johns continues her brilliant play since being inserted into the starting lineup ahead of the Louisiana road swing. She is averaging 11.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest over the last four games.

• With a career record at Texas State of 125-124, head coach Zenarae Antoine is fourth in program history in career victories. She trails Suzanne Fox (174), Judy Rinker (145) and Linda Sharp (138) on the all-time list.

20+ WINS & EYEING A PROGRAM RECORD
UTA's 60-56 OT win at ULM on Saturday, Feb. 23 secured the squad's 20th win of the season and made the Lady Mavs the first Sun Belt team to hit the 20-win plateau.

The Feb. 23rd win also gave the Lady Mavericks the 10th 20-win season in program history and the 2nd of Coach Gerlich's UTA tenure.

UTA is closing in on the program record for wins in a season. The program record is 24 wins in a single season, which was achieved by the Donna Capps led Lady Mavs squad in 2006-2007 (24-9 overall).

COLLEGEINSIDER.COM MID-MAJOR POLL
The UTA women's basketball team was ranked No. 25 in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll that was released on Tuesday, March 5.

This marks the first time this season that the Lady Mavericks have been ranked in the top 25 in the Mid-Major Poll. UTA is one of three Sun Belt Conference schools to appear in the Mid-Major Poll along with Little Rock (RV, 10) and Troy (RV, 5).

For the second week in a row, Gonzaga held down the top in the poll (26 first-place votes; 762 points), while South Dakota State took the No. 2 position. FGCU (684 points), Drake (682 points) and South Dakota (681 points) rounded out the top-five.

The CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top-25 is now in its ninth season of existence. The poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast, Western Athletic and is voted on by a panel of 31 coaches.

JUMP ON EM EARLY
The Lady Mavs have thrived on getting off to fast starts in both the first and third quarters of games. UTA is outscoring opponents by 100 points in the first quarter and 117 in the third. In the first meeting between the two squads, UTA emerged with a 68-53 victory on the strength of a 24-6 lead after the first frame. Ball movement is another key for UTA, as the team assists on 18-of-26 made shots per contest.

LAST TIME OUT | LADY MAVS HANDLE TROY ON SENIOR DAY; SECURE TRIPLE-BYE AND TOP 2 SEED IN SUN BELT TOURNEY (MAR. 2)
On Senior Day, the Lady Mavs overcame an early deficit with a dominant second quarter before cruising to an 88-65 win over Troy on Saturday afternoon (March 2) at College Park Center.

UTA started the second quarter on an 8-0 run and eventually pushed their lead to double digits behind improved shooting. Claire Chastain, who led UTA with a game-high 16 points and five rebounds, provided some offensive stability in the second quarter. She shot an efficient 7-of-15 from the field on the night.

UTA also got a spark from seniors Daiane Machado and Laurynn McGowen off the bench in the second quarter. Machado finished with six points and four rebounds, while McGowen added 11 points.

Chastain and McGowen were two of four Lady Mavs to score in double figures, as senior Cierra Johnson chipped in 12 points and Brooke Alexander finished with 10 points.

UTA led by as many as 23 points in the second half, but a Jags (19-7, 8-7) run cut the lead down to 12 with seven minutes remaining in the fourth. Chastain cut that run short with a three-pointer on the next possession.

South Alabama was limited to just 36.4 percent (16-of-44) shooting from the field in the game. Johnson had a big part in harassing the Jags on that end of the floor, finishing the game with five steals. Her final steal moved her into a third-place tie on the Sun Belt's all-time steals list. She played a significant role in turning the Jags over 27 times, which UTA cashed in for 31 points.
