ARLINGTON, Texas – It took 13 innings, but UTA eventually toppled No. 17 Baylor 2-1 in a marathon game Tuesday night at Clay Gould Ballpark.
After eight scoreless innings from both teams,
Josh Minjarez started the bottom of the 13th inning with a double down the left field line.
Dylan Paul singled and
Boone Montgomery drew a walk to load the bases.
Tyler Rice sent everybody home with a bases-loaded walk to end the game.
The Mavericks (21-13) got 11.1 scoreless innings from seven relievers after Baylor (22-9) scored off
Ka'ikepono Anderson in the second inning.
Davion Downey hit a home run to right center field in the second inning to give Baylor a 1-0 lead.
The Mavs broke through in the bottom of the fourth when
Dylan Paul singled
Will Olson home to tie the game (1-1). Olson reached base with a double two batters prior.
The Mavs get back to conference play at Arkansas State on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
