Men's Tennis Set to Begin Sun Belt Tournament

PEACHTREEE CITY, Ga. — The fourth-seeded UT Arlington men's tennis team is set to begin the Sun Belt Championship Tournament on Friday, April 19 with a quarterfinals match against fifth-seeded Louisiana.
 
The match is set to begin at 5 p.m. at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. The winner advances to the semifinals to play either #8 Appalachian State or #1 South Alabama.

In addition to audio and live results, updates will be posted on the official Twitter account of the program @UTAMavsTennis.
 
Beginning in the semifinal round, all matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

2018-19 UTA NOTES
• Rio and Guanarteme Nuez will finish their UTA careers having two of the top five career winning percentages in school history.  Nuez has won 65 percent of his matches, while Rio has won 64 percent of his.
• Pardo has won 73 percent of his singles matches this season (22-8 overall), which is the fifth best winning percentage in a single-season in program history.
• The Mavericks led the Sun Belt in All-Conference selections with four.  Pardo and Nuez both earned first team in singles, while Nuez was joined by Rio as a first team selection in doubles.  Pardo was joined by partner Eduard Simo as a second team doubles selection.
• Nuez has the 10th most career singles wins in Mavericks history (70) and the 8th most combined career wins (129) in UTA history.  Rio joins Nuez on the all-time wins list, as his 109 career combined wins is 9th all-time.
 
MAVS IN THE SUN BELT TOURNAMENT
UTA is looking to advance to the for the first time since 2016, when they advanced all the way to the championship, winning the conference title over South Alabama.  This will be the third time facing Louisiana in the tournament, defeating the Ragin' Cajuns in 2016 and falling to them in 2014.
 
SCOUTING ULM
The Mavericks and Ragin' Cajuns ended the season against each other, facing off just five days ago where the Mavs got the best of Louisiana, 4-0. Louisiana is 21-9 on the year, but have lost four of their last six. Jamie Fraser (18 wins) and Arthur Libaud (17 wins) leads the Cajuns in wins this season.
